Choosing the right cbd oil: full-spectrum, isolate or nano-cbd?

Choosing the right CBD oil

The CBD industry is booming. With what seems like a new product coming to market every day and the increasing amount of choices that consumers are faced with when it comes to the different types of cannabidiol (CBD), it can become overwhelming very quickly – especially if you are new to the idea of using CBD.

What are the different types of CBD available, what they are good for, and how you can pick the right one for you? Read on to find out more.

Types

Full-spectrum CBD

What is it?
Full-spectrum CBD (along with its little brother broad-spectrum CBD), is an extract whereby all of the compounds contained within the original plant material is preserved in the final product. This means that products containing this type of CBD extract, also contains a long list of other cannabinoids, terpenes and cannabis flavonoids – all of which have potential beneficial effects of their own. It is also thought that all these compounds work together synergistically due to something called the entourage effect, creating a more therapeutically effective end-product.

What is it good for?
Due to the wide spectrum of other potentially therapeutic compounds, full-spectrum CBD is good for both daily supplemental use, but also for the treatment of more severe illnesses and symptoms.

CBD Isolate

What is it?
As the name suggest, CBD isolates refer to a form of CBD that’s isolated from other compounds, and most often found in crystalline form. Because of its purity, CBD isolates have long been thought to be the gold standard for CBD products and cannabis medicine. It was also believed that CBD isolates are more potent and concentrated than full-spectrum CBD. However, due to the entourage effect, more people are turning to full-spectrum CBD products.

What is it good for?
CBD isolate is great for people that need a precision dose of CBD for particular symptoms, have sensitivities to other compounds and/or want to stay clear of Δ9–tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Nano CBD

What is it?
Nano-CBD is the new kid on the block, and is a type of CBD isolate in which the CBD molecules have been reduced into nanoparticles. First developed by the pharmaceutical industry, the process of creating nanoparticles is thought to help with the absorption of the substance into the bloodstream. Because the CBD particles are so small, they can easily pass through cellular gaps that larger CBD molecules can’t, making for superior bioavailability.

What is it good for?
Nano-CBD is a good alternative for people that would like a more potent form of CBD isolate at lower dosages.

Choosing the right one

Everyone is different and only you will know which type of CBD is right for you. We all have different lifestyles, physiologies, and health needs – all of which will help you determine which type of CBD will work best for you. However, there are some guidelines that can help you when making a decision.

Consider Full-Spectrum CBD if:

1: You want the full benefits of all the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids present in the whole cannabis plant.
2: THC is not a concern for you.
3: You want a more natural and “raw” product.

Consider CBD isolate or nano-cbd if:

1: You think of it as a supplement that has been added to edibles, topicals, or mixed with cannabis flower.
2: You are into dabbing or vaping.
3: Even low amounts of THC could make you potentially fail drug-testing.
